Is one of the main cacao producing regions in Mexico. Our main objective was to organize cacao smallholder farmers into a cooperative, so they could access better markets, while using sound conservation and agroecological practices. After working to improve cacao production quality and trying to create the cooperative, the cacao farmers decided to group themselves in three cooperatives. The producers are spread in 7 communities, and this would give them more access and control of their business. As they improved and increased their production, they were able to collectively build a collection center and continue working together to access clients looking for high quality cacao.
